fee structure to allow you to make informed decisions regarding our interior design services.
Initial meeting – free of charge
We believe that it is important to meet with clients before they commit to our services, and so we offer a no-obligation first meeting that is completely free of charge. Our designer will travel to see you at your premises and discuss your needs, likes, lifestyle and also answer questions about our services. Meetings outside Nottingham will be subject to travelling charges of 30p per mile as will any unavoidable accommodation costs.
We offer a flexibility in the level of involvement of our company in your project. We have two break points. One follows the client design plan stage, where you can continue the work yourself. The second follows the contractors design plan stage, where you can find, hire and manage your own contractors.
Subsequent meetings - £70 per hour, pro-rata
Having engaged our services, and from the information gained at the first meeting, our Interior Designer will use their design skills and training to create a design to suit your personality and lifestyle. One with which you will spend many happy years. A second meeting will be scheduled where an outline of the colour scheme, materials and overall feel of the design will be presented.
Design fee – from £500 per room
When all aspects of the design have been agreed, the designer will source all agreed fabrics, wall finishes and floorcoverings; and provide a sampleboard to illustrate design elements using actual samples of the materials specified.
The design fee includes sampleboard, sourcing all wallcoverings, floorcoverings and fabrics, acquisition of samples and a standard room survey. Pencil sketch plans and colour rendered window treatments can be provided if required.
The designer will then deliver the sampleboard at a subsequent
meeting.
Progress Stage 1. Client design plans Standard design client drawings are included in the design fee, as is a standard room survey. Extensive drawing alterations are charged at £40 per hour.
Sourcing of lighting, furniture etc. will be undertaken on the understanding that the items sourced must be purchased through our company. They are charged at very competitive rates.

2. Contractors design plans
These comprise the necessary details to enable the contractors to quote for the work to be undertaken and accurate completion of the work.
The plans, which include an instruction list for the implementation of our design, are priced from £100 for a small room to £280 for a kitchen or bathroom.

Project co-ordination
If our company is appointed to undertake project co-ordination, we will obtain an estimate from contractors. Once the estimate has been approved and the contractor appointed, the contract of works will be between the client and the contractor. The invoice is paid directly by the client to the contractor to ensure that the guarantee for the work is in their name. The commission charged by Susu Interior Design is 12.5% of the contractor’s final account.
Project co-ordination includes:
- Regular site visits to ascertain that the progress, quality
and work in general is in accordance with the specifications
provided
- Keyholder capacity to allow ease of access
- Assisting in problem solving when unexpected variations to
specifications occur due to previously un-revealed conditions
on-site
- Reasonable availability on the telephone during normal working
hours
- Certification of contractor’s applications for interim and
final payments
All invoices in respect of our company’s administration fee are charged at the same time as interim applications from the contractors are passed for payment.
Disbursements
Standard postage, telephone, travel within Nottingham and parking are included. Overseas phone calls are charged at cost. Photocopies of design drawings are charged at cost. Special courier charged at cost. Travel outside Nottingham charged at 30p per mile. Unavoidable accommodation costs are chargeable.
Payment of Account
The fee for meetings is payable at each meeting. A design fee deposit is payable upon engagement, with the balance payable upon delivery of the sampleboard or design drawings.
A deposit of 100% against a detailed quotation for fabrics, trimmings, wallcoverings, floorcoverings and all other materials is required to facilitate ordering. No materials will be ordered until the full value of the agreed invoice has been received.
Final payment of any one item becomes due prior to delivery of that item.
